NiSlip™ 25
At CRC Surface Technologies, we offer several high quality electroless nickel plating solutions. The NiSlip™ 25 is a composite electroless nickel coating made up of ultra-fine boron nitride particles. This unique blend results in a synergistic coating that has an exceptionally low coefficient of friction, complemented by all the inherent qualities of electroless nickel. Although the NiSlip™ 25 offers many impressive benefits, this process is not NADCAP-certified.
NiSlip™ 25 vs. PTFE Coatings
While composite electroless nickel coatings with PTFE, like our NiSlip™ 500, have many benefits and are widely used, they may not always offer the ideal balance of wear resistance and lubricity. This limitation arises from the relative softness of PTFE, rendering it incapable of withstanding high temperatures.
In contrast, the boron nitride particles in NiSlip™ 25 exhibit significantly higher hardness than PTFE, and can endure temperatures exceeding 850°C. This heat tolerance empowers the NiSlip™ 25 coating to undergo heat treatment for maximal hardness, a standard post-treatment procedure for most electroless nickel coatings.

This versatile coating can enhance components made from cost-effective metal and alloys, whether applied across their entire surface or selectively to critical areas. Thanks to its electroless nature, NiSlip™ 25 perfectly conforms to even the most intricate geometries. This makes it an environmentally friendly alternative to chrome coatings, which require environmentally hazardous production processes, along with labor-intensive grinding and polishing for uniformity.
